Learning the sign language is just like learning any other spoken language. It uses many ways for combining signs into a single sign with complex meanings. It is like words combined to form sentences in spoken language. But the advantage of sign language several words or sentences can be expressed using a single sign. Sign language has its own grammar. Even the facial expressions have meanings. Complex ideas like love, belief, faith, trust etc. can be conveyed with single sign or expression. The sign language is also continuously growing and changing. New signs are being introduced into the language with changes in modern technology.

In English a sentence formation is just like subject, verb and object. But basically the sign language formation is just in the opposite way. It is a very flexible language. You will first give a broad view and then get down into the narrow view.

The sign language mostly centers are the concept of what the person want to communicate. It seems to make no sense in writing. But the action or the signs communicates ideas faster and better than spoken languages. But you will have to think also in the sign language for that.

The sign language is a spatial language. The language uses the space allotted to it more. Certain part of the body is reserved for communication. The person should not come out of this space while conversing. This space starts from the torso and ends up in the forehead forming a rectangle.

In the sign language the sentences are formed like object, subject and then verb. First you will have to show what you are talking about then the subject and the verb come last. If you want to say “Hey jumped the cat”. It will be some signs in the order “Cat he Jump”.

The present, past and future tenses are similar in the sign language or they have no importance for representation in the language. The tenses are set up when a sentence begins before any nouns, adjective or pronoun. But the word finish is often used before the verb.

The sign language the language once used only by the deaf community is now growing popular all over the world. The sign language has its own right and has the ability to convey information just like any other spoken language. It has also got its own system of vocabulary and grammar. It is generally a visual oriented language that used movement of body parts to convey messages that are recognized by eyes. The curriculum of many countries is revised to make it as a second language in early childhood schools. This can help the teachers to plan relevant programs for their students and communicate more efficiently. British Alphabet Chart
